Touch

By Charles Sapp II

Human touch
warm impressions on flesh,
nerve endings on alert,
responsive as information is reported
and recorded to the central system of emotion
converted to chemical
in reaction, I respond.

Reciprocated action,
heartfelt to the core of the soul,
fulfillment, anti-loneliness
a truth serum,
beloved hope drizzled with language
coaxing anxious desires
to be touched again.

Angst and detachment
rigid and course
untamed strength,
disconnected
and seeking stimulation.
Cured by god’s caress
during the duress of living;
reality becomes real
and touch is the medium.
