Birth of a New Season

Exactly one month from this day a new season will be among us and I feel that it is appropriate to write about the transition into a new season.

By Charles Sapp II

As the summer solstice of the sun shifts towards the vernal equinox;

the flood gates open and give way to the marine layer

that creeps along the coastal landscape;

a precursor to the shortening of the day’s light.

Above the land, birds catch drift to the winds current and migratory breeds

fly in formation, under a cadence of supreme innovation,

using celestial navigation and clouds as rest stops.

Atmospheric metamorphosis dually dependent

to the Earth’s axis and solar distance.

The sky inhales and we exhale, we breathe in unison.

Rainfall smelled from the distance

as the chatter from the trees can be heard awaiting the

gift from the heavens.

Meteoric showers spark the night sky

and constellations shift in parallax,

the observers of time and space

witnessing the birth of a new season.

Truants

By Charles Sapp II

Those truant to the encompassing magnitude of tribunal gatherings,

where the world has spoken in unison.

As the perilous planet pirouettes through space,

beings cling to her surface with heads bowed with prayers of mercy.

The future has come,

what was told has been said;

what was written has been read.

Time’s translucent dictation of the past

and reoccurring present, will heed no more warnings.

The Earth has crumbled under the sheer weight of burden,

and trees have walked away with their roots.

The untamed wind hunts stealth with savage fierceness

and the tumultuous seas trespass the shore’s boundaries

in pursuit for vindication from unlawful treason.

The soil that has given birth to nameless children,

must now identify their selves.

The watchful eye of the Sun will now look away

as the Moon marks shame to the naked walkers of the night.

The planet will claim its independence as it existed before.

The world has spoken,

we have not listened,

evolution is in progress;

the delay is negligent

and time will not wait.

The Conductor

By Charles Sapp II

The germination of thoughts

spreading like wildflowers across the landscape of hillside ruminations,

musing over blissful clouds and meandering through sunset motifs.

Events of silent moments piqued by the crescendo of nature’s dialogue,

symphonized harmoniously with wing patterns beating against the wind,

as the sound of inspiration culminates and leads into artistic action.

Captivated by the orchestration of life playing live,

a personal concerto,

with the dim light mood and the nocturnal accompaniment

presents an evening of dancing silhouettes beneath the luminous moon

where silver incandescence sparkles like liquid mirages

transforming the landscape to a stage for the stars

Thoughts conceived and given birth to introspection

where life beckons and existence is animated by experience.

The energy seeps through the Earth and enters the body;

as a conductor, the written sermon, a testament of living power

transcendent upon all creatures great and small

living in unison,

beneath the heavens we play our part.

Aquarius

By Charles Sapp II

The water bearer of life
invokes the essence of animated matter,
flowing through the passageways of time.
The fluid nature of innovation fruit ideas abound,
in an ethereal sense with embodied vision towards the future.
The silhouette from the Moon’s gravity on the surface of the ocean,
draws the body of water closer,
where aquatic boundaries are claimed under the rule of Aquarius
as water dominates the blue planet.

Uranus speaks with an enigmatic voice
this evokes direction as the Earth cycles.
The water bearer delivers consciousness and compassion
where human emotion revolves in patterns persuaded by universal concoctions.
The element of air eccentric and elusive,
invisible to sight and presence felt when summoned.
The oceans are receptive while the wind flirts with the course of change.

A humanitarian by impeccable design;
the watchful eye within the zodiacal domain
brings forth the dawn of a new age, a new millennium
as time escorts the energy from the past by flushing old concepts
with liquid love raining down upon the parched Earth,
delivering the equinox of the Sun as a gift
with all of its purity and divination of day and night.
Mankind embraced by the outpouring of heavenly love,
reinforced by altruistic fate
we begin to return our gaze to the stars focusing on the future.

Sacrifice for a New Day

By Charles Sapp II

Legs alternating,
staggered steps in humanoid patterns
against the Sun burned Earth,
while arms swing like pendulum gears
adding momentum to movement.

Intensity not by heat,
but motive to seek refuge
and simmer in the shade,
with immersed feet in an aquatic oasis
reviving soles of despair.

The nomad with sunburned feet
treads with frostbitten toes; given a piece of self to the world,
a sacrifice
suspended by time’s mercy.
Alternative universe,
an exclamation of a parallel dimension
cascading sheets of ice,
frigid ruins of cavernous cavities
where frozen monuments melt from global disharmony.

The rain cries down over the body of the land from swollen clouds
and the call of the wind halts progress as a heeded warning
lead to the summit of glory.

Sauntering backwards, retracing generations of footprints
and reading the scribed riddles within the strata of abstract clouds;
the rain lifts off the land and returns to the cloud,
this later dissipates, carrying away the distress from a tired planet in peril
and the ignorance that persists.

The dawn of a new day
brings perspective and challenge,
influence is spread vast like the oceans,
deep with retrospect and desire to soothe the bruises and wounds inflicted on life.

Hope Within Humanity

I write this poem while remembering the victims of the Wenchuan earthquake. I have been deeply moved by the amount of emotion that has been pouring from the people worldwide, within tragedy there is still a glimmer of hope and the true essence of humanity surfaces. My thoughts and prayers remain for those still ravaged by the disaster.

By Charles Sapp II

Tattered clothes
and dust clinging to perspired skin,
a face with determination and purpose,
with a hint of grief.

Nature seemed to turn away
and display the effects of neglect.
The purpose almost seems arbitrary,
but the balance of normalcy is forever changed.

Material from the material world suddenly dematerializes
to a faint and soon irrelevant existence.
The hand of a fellow man and the taste of faith,
ensures compassion for the soul
and continuance of the power of love.

The witness of children wiping mother’s tears
to clear, watery blur of distorted sorrow.
Children are messengers for a hopeful future.
Taught to teach the primary ways,
inert or inherent as bare necessities outweigh the forgotten.

Laughter will soon fill the air and journals will be written
and surface to display the common characteristic of humanity
during its finest hours which transcends all cultures.

Cosmic Soup

By Charles Sapp II

A collection of cells,
suspended matter
molded by creation.

Emergent immigrant from water,
the son of Sun,
mothered by the Moon,
siblings as planets;
loved by the Earth,
Universe is home.

Chemistry lives
and blood is symbolic to life,
knowledge is experience
and poetry is the language.

Passion burns with intensity from the heart.
Sight is found while dreaming.
A climber of trees
touching the clouds
to taste the ripe rain.
With toes rooted and anchored to the ground,
facing the wind with mouth wide
inhaling its strength,
as the winds are the deliverer and carrier of voice.

At play,
stories are told by decorating the night sky
and rearranging the stars.
Grabbing comets by the tail
and throwing towards the Sun;
a celestial form of playing catch.
Passing time by twirling galaxies with fingers
in the cosmic soup of existence.

Heirloom Relics

By Charles Sapp II
Rustic and weathered,
affluent namesake
secretly bolded clue;
a relic heirloom
to miracles graciously embraced
and imbued upon a few.

The richness of soil in hand
freshly squeezed Earth ripe with nutrients,
rooted deeply
as seedlings are seen stretching for light.

Caught by cosmic rays raining down from the heavens,
beneath the umbrella, sheltered and unexposed.
Bathing in oceans,
standing against the backdrop of cloudless skies and eternity,
naked in fields of green pastures
while the wind skirmishes in open space and skims the skin,
taking the scent of harmony to great distances.

True color never lies
in shaded regions of doubt,
outlining landscapes of imagination,
vivid offerings
transparent realities.

The song of voice to tone deaf ears
replay the sound of angel wings beating
suspended in time, felt through the heart;
percussive.

No words may translate
or surrender the magnitude of everlasting presence,
yet may fade when memory fails.
All eyes straight ahead,
prayers to fill timeless gaps in the void of forever
ageless relics as heirlooms
the gift of insight.

The Harvest

By Charles Sapp II

Creativity is harvested from the fiber of dead trees
wrapped in dried animal flesh.
Thunderous thoughts rain words on pages
and concepts are pulled out of the air,
only those of select choice.

The melodic structure soothes the beast within,
harmonious order from chaos brings peace.
Colors meld to vivid gradients
and light displays the spectrum roles we play in life.

Life is a dream
we cognitively construct our influences
that becomes our character.
Hands cusped for receiving,
giving self to the source—receptive

Positive nature presents itself
as offerings of love pour into outstretched palms.
Eyes closed, open to dreams
envisioned as power streams through the limbs
like solar light to trees, igniting life to fruition.
This process,
divine and evident is the cure to all man-made illnesses.

Concentric Beings

By Charles Sapp II

Listen—
speechless minutes
rob eternity of silence.

time signs in stillness when viewed afar.
Ego driven men interrupt nature
for fear of life’s speed
spent on meditation.

The Earth moves when I say go,
the Earth sleeps when I say so;
you may dream on my watch.

Positively charged partners in time
whom coexist; cohesively
like exhibitionist
love exhibits
we experience the breath of light,
this illuminates two soul’s romance.
